Last Friday, the US Transportation Department announced that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones will be banned from all airline flights in the US after nearly 100 incidents of the devices overheating and sometimes injuring owners.

Recently, Smartphone giant Samsung stopped production of its Note 7 phone amid claims that replacement devices are still at risk of catching fire.

Several carriers in Australia, Asia and Europe also put the phone on a prohibited list over the weekend.
