Sri Lanka overtakes India in ease of doing business

Sri Lanka has jumped 06 positions to rank 107th among 189 nations on World Bank's ease of doing business chart.

The country is placed 3rd in the South East region, even acing past regional powerhouse - India left at 5th position.

Bhutan has topped the chart in the South Asian region while Singapore topped the global chart followed by New Zealand, Denmark, South Korea, Hong Kong, UK, US, Sweden, Norway and Finland in the top 10 nations.

Economies are ranked on their ease of doing business, from 1–189. A high ease of doing business ranking means the regulatory environment is more conducive to the starting and operation of a local firm. The rankings are determined by sorting the aggregate distance to frontier scores on 10 topics, each consisting of several indicators, giving equal weight to each topic. The rankings for all economies are benchmarked to June 2015.
