Celebrities pose naked to protect marine life

Celebrities pose naked to protect marine life Featured

Last year saw the image of Helena Bonham-Carter posing naked with a 27kg tuna go viral.

And now theatre stars such as Emma Thompson have now lent their naked bodies to the FishLove campaign as they posed with dead sea life in order to highlight the dangers of overfishing in British seas.

The stage and screen star, 56, stripped off with her husband Greg Wise for the unique shoot which saw them posing with two deep sea Black Scabbard fish from Portugal.

Other stars who took part in the campaign included Mark Rylance, Dougray Scott and Miriam Margolyes.

The Fishlove campaign is to take pressure away from eating popular fish, such as cod, by encouraging the consumption of lesser-known species like sprats, herring, mackerel and gurnard.

Leading London seafood restaurant, J Sheekey Oyster Bar, endorsed Fishlove by commissioning the series of photographs taken by Jillian Edelstein.

The J Sheekey Oyster Bar/Fishlove Theatre Series will be available to view in the J Sheekey Oyster Bar from March 24, alongside a selection of photographs taken in previous years.

To celebrate the launch and raise awareness with guests at the restaurant, J Sheekey Oyster Bar will have a daily-changing, sustainable Fishlove special, on its menu.

With frequently provocative images of naked celebrities holding endangered fish species, Fishlove has become one of the most successful and significant campaigns raising awareness of how destructive fishing practices are bringing the marine environment to the brink of collapse.
