Seeking tranquility & peace

Seeking tranquility & peace

Today is Bak Full Moon Poya Day. The significance of it is historical, since that marks Buddha's second visit to Sri Lanka.

This holy day celebrates the second visit of the Buddha to Sri Lanka, which took place in the fifth year of his enlightenment in order to reconcile two local Naga chiefs, Mahodara and Chulodara who were uncle and nephew by relation.

The two were about to wage war over a throne beset with jewels.

History states that the Sasana notes that the Lord Buddha, on reaching Nagadeepa, preached to the Naga tribe and made them understand the value of peace and averting war between the two kings.

Each full moon Poya day has its own significance for Buddhists and the following are few pics of those who have sought the refuge of peace and tranquility offered by the Dhamma of Buddhism on during Poya Days.
