Vajira’s suspension over ‘god given’ receipt

Vajira’s suspension over ‘god given’ receipt

Cricket interim committee officials are going to reinstate Vajira Dassanayake, as they are unable to find who was behind the altered receipt that had led to the suspension of the marketing and communication chief, reliable sources told Sri Lanka Mirror.

Anti-corruption manager Lakshman de Silva obtained a copy of the original receipt provided by SriLankan Catering for Rs. 6,000, which has been found to be altered to Rs. 16,000.

De Silva’s report on the fraud has now been pushed under the carpet.

Responding to an article by SLM under the heading ‘Probe on altering receipt pushed under carpet’, the ex-manager’s secretary Gayatri Wickremasinghe said the receipt in question was submitted not by her, but by Dassanayake.

SLC employees found fault with the investigation and told us that he has been suspended over a ‘god given’ receipt.

Schaffter too, covered up suspension

When Dassanayake was suspended, we sent a SMS to interim committee secretary Prakash Schaffter, and got a response, both of which are given below:

SLM: Is it true that SLC Head of Marketing & Communications, Vajira Dassanayake has been ousted from the position?

Schaffter: Not at all. He is very much in his post and I spoke to him today. Prakash
