Minister of Sports Navin Dissanayake has revealed this while laying the foundation stone to build a Football hostel in Kelaniya yesterday (12).

It is said that measures are being taken to ascertain whether persons who have held prominent positions in sports administration bodies are able to contest again according to sports regulations that were in place in 2013.

The sports minister has decided to reconsider the matter over facts presented by bigwigs in such bodies.

However, the reconsideration is to be done according to AG advice as well.

According to the above AG advice, it is said that around 90 pc of officials in several sports administration bodies will not be eligible to contest this year.
