He cited the positive steps he had taken as the chief selector previously, from 2013 to April 2015, not being taken forward by his successors as one reason for the team’s setbacks.

It is the game, not individuals, that matters and good things should be taken forward, he noted.

Jayasuriya said the responsibility was bigger this time.
