The Lawyers for Good Governance has informed government analyst Sakunthala Tennakoon in writing that the breathalyzer balloons being used by police were of substandard.

Speaking to Sri Lanka Mirror, member of the group Senaka Perera gave further details.

According to reports reaching SLM, the police department has recently imported 50,000 breathalyzers from South Africa recently.

Costing nearly Rs. 300 each, they have already been distributed to 43 police divisions in the country, mainly to Colombo, Gampaha and Nugegoda divisions.
