Seniors dejected - Hirunika Featured

It is the responsibility of the party leadership the retain dejected party members, UPFA Western Provincial Councillor Hirunika Premachandra has said.

Hirunika was responding to queries of 'BBC Sandeshaya' made over media reports citing that she was to join the opposition.

Hirunika has said that she would support President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the next presidential election as she is a UPFA member at the present.

However, noting that former UPFA ministers Maithripala Sirisena and Rajitha Senaratne are good people, Hirunika has said that she will not change whether she is on this side or that.

'Former UPFA ministers Maithripala Sirisena and Rajitha Senaratne are two prominent figures among the handful of people who helped me even before i came to politics. The party did not do them justice. There are a large number of dejected seniors within the party. It is up to the leaders and the rulers of the party to decide whether to retain them further or not,' she has said.

She has added that it was the duty of the rulers to retain the younger members members as well.
