The signing of an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at sealing a common agenda of a multi-party government between common candidate Maithripala Sirisena, political parties and civil organisations is to be held on Nov. 28.

Speaking, a senior spokesperson of the opposition says that representatives of 32 political parties and civil organisations are to sign the MoU.

This includes a short term and a long term agenda which are to be implemented once Maithripala Sirisena wins the forthcoming presidential election.

The opposition spokesperson further said that abolishing executive presidency, appointing Ranil Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister, enacting the 17th Amendment after doing away with the 18th amendment, ensuring media freedom and electoral reforms are among the many conditions that have been included in the MoU.
