Ranil Wickremesinghe has informed this to a group of representatives of Ven. Maduluwawe Sobithe Thero's 'National Movement for Just Society' last night (Nov 15).
He has stated that Sajith Premadasa has completely opposed fielding Karu Jayasuriya as the 'common candidate' and if his opinion was neglected there is a risk of party getting divided.
Wickremesinghe has told the group which visited him that he is ready to stand in for the election as the common candidate.
However, speaking to BBC Sandeshaya, Sajith Premadasa recently stated that if MP Karu Jayasuriya or former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumartunga is to stand in for the upcoming presidential election as the common candidate with the support of UNP he will also extend his support.
