Why was the Rugby election postponed? Featured

The annual election of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) has been postponed.

The election was scheduled to be held at the Colombo Galadari Hotel this morning (07).

It is said the the election was put off on the directives provided by the Sports Development Department yesterday.

Sports minister Navin Dissanayake is awaiting Attorney General advice on several sports regulations amended in 2013 and this is said to be the closest reason for the election postponement.

However, it is learnt that the Sports Development Department has earlier informed the SLRFU to postpone elections until the AG advice is provided.
