ETC confirms Seekkuge replacement

The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 has approved Seekkuge Prasanna as a replacement player for Dimuth Karunaratne in Sri Lanka’s squad for the tournament.

Karunaratne fractured his little finger during a training session in Sydney and has been ruled out of further participation in the tournament.

Prasanna has played 22 ODIs for Sri Lanka in which he has scored 181 runs and taken 21 wickets with his wrist spinners. His last appearance for Sri Lanka was earlier this year when he played against New Zealand in Wellington.

Any injury or illness-based replacement requires a written submission to the Event Technical Committee along with a diagnosis from a medical practitioner as to the extent of the injury or illness. Once replaced, a player may not return to the squad save as an approved subsequent replacement for another injured or ill player.
