3 journalists probed over attempt to discredit Sanga Featured

A move is underway to investigate a part played by three media men from one company along with former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga in branding batsman Kumar Sangakkara a traitor who picked money over country in 2013 during the Champions League in India.

Sangakkara was not allowed to play for his Indian franchise team in the Champions League and instead ordered to represent his local Kandurata team in the same tournament.

The complaint to be made is against three media men from the same Organisation.

The trio are said to have indulged in the smear campaign against Sangakkara after compromising on the truth and accepting foreign tours as well as bribes provided by Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga in return.

The petition to the Bribery Commissioner is to state that Ranatunga procured sponsorships from a leading mobile phone company for the three journalists to make the foreign tour.

The mobile telephone service providing company is also being accused of complicity in the plot to discredit Sangakkara.

The three journalists under investigation were involved in covering the same overseas event from one media organization courtesy Sri Lanka Cricket and the mobile phone company which was unprecedented.
