New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum scored the fastest century in Test cricket for his country as he achieved the feat against Sri Lanka on the opening day of the first Test in Christchurch today (December 26).

He scored his century in only 74 balls that also made him the first New Zealand batsman to score 1000 runs in a calendar year.

McCullum's knock was the ninth fastest hundred in Test history on par with Kapil Dev (India), Majid Khan (Pakistan) and Mohamed Azharuddin (India)
