National cricketers join flood relief efforts

The Sri Lanka cricketers currently touring England have expressed their solidarity with the flood-affected citizens back at home, a release from SLC states.

The release adds that the cricket team has donated Rs one million for aid relief through the program Cricket Aid. These funds will be used to purchase potable water, medical supplies and other essentials.

Sri Lanka cricket captain speaking on television said, “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the floods and landslides. We love you all and out thoughts and prayers are with you”.

The team wore black armbands as they opened their tour of England with the first Test at Headingley.
