Sri Lanka needs an opener for World Cup Featured

Sri Lanka cricket captain Angelo Mathews revealed that one opener's slot was up for grabs before the 2015 World Cup.

He made the disclosure after the sixth ODI against England while emphasizing that Mahela Jayawardena was a better player batting at number 4.

Mathews said he was relieved that his team bowled better in the match.

"In our last game (fifth ODI) we did not bowl well but in this game (sixth ODI) we were spot on from the very first ball", said Mathews.

He said that with Sri Lanka wrapping up the seven-match series 4-2 with one match left on Tuesday, there was the possibility of some new faces introduced into the team.
