Fisticuffs at Royal-Trinity fixture at Pallekele (video)

The second leg of the 72nd Royal-Trinity fixture for the Bradby Shield ended in fisticuffs at Pallekele stadium today (14).

Several injured have been admitted to hospital, reports say.

Royal College won the first leg in Colombo 22-17, and Trinity came back to clinch the second 18-13.

Both teams were declared winners and the Shield was presented to the two captains at the presentation.

Tradition has it that both sides keep the Shield for six months each at a draw.

However, last year’s winner Royal College has refused to handover the Shield to Trinity College for the first six months.

This resulted in the Trinitians snatching the Shield, attacking their rivals and driving them away from the stadium.
