Ezy Racing's Dinesh Deheragoda ranked 2nd in Asia

Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Deheragoda, who represented team EZY Racing, placed Sri Lanka on the world map bringing unparalleled glory by being ranked number two (2) in Asia at the prestigious Asia Cup Rally in this year’s prestigious Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) conducted by FIA (Federation Internationale de L’Automobile), the world motor racing governing body.

This was, remarkably, Deheragoda’s first-ever complete season in a FIA Championship. The APRC is the second most important event following FIA’s World Rally Championship (WRC).

Deheragoda won 57 points in the three-Rally event in which he participated in the Asian circuit this year; in Malaysia, Japan and China. Deheragoda was partnered by co driver Shafraz Junaid, a top Sri Lankan rally driver himself. Junaid won the runner-up position by just one point behind China’s Jun Xu.

This is a historic achievement for the racing fraternity of Sri Lanka. Ezy Racing is a subsidiary of Ezy Corporation, a premier IT distribution and services company in Sri Lanka. It has a strong global presence under its parent company, Ezy Technology.

Addressing a special media gathering to celebrate this achievement, Shafraz Hamzadeen - founder / CEO of the the EZY corporation said, "No achievement can be made through a single hand. As a team we’ve stood by each other and tackled the challenges. We don’t want to get drunk on the result. It is journey. There is a long way to go."

FIA’s head of motorsport for Asia, Niroshan Pereira, who is also the President of Sri Lanka’s official FIA affiliated motorsport body, the Ceylon Motor Sports Club (CMSC), confirmed the final standings of Asia Cup 2014 where Deheragoda is officially ranked 2nd in Asia.
