It was a picture that was both heartwarming and heartbreaking, as despite suffering a broken arm, a broken leg and a head injury, the mother continued to breastfeed her seven-month-old baby in a hospital bed in Thailand.

The Bangkok Post reports that the stricken mother was pictured breastfeeding her young son, and that the picture went viral because it ‘evoked many positive and heartrending emotions from Thai internet users’.

There was no information on how the mother came to have her injuries.

The photo, titled ‘Power of (Mother’s) Love’, was first posted in Thai on Wednesday by Facebook user Thailand (Volunteer Rescue Group, Thailand), and was later translated from Thai into English by the Bangkok Post.

It showed the blood-soaked woman lying on a hospital bed with her baby in her arms, waiting to be treated.

The Thai Facebook poster wrote: ‘This happened at Rong Kwang Hospital in Phrae province. The mother had an accident but she was holding her seven-month-old child close to her.
