Beauty of scars show fighter in women

Beauty of scars show fighter in women Featured

In our society, breast cancer is hiding behind a little pink bow. The public needs to be educated.

That's the premise that has driven the scar project (project scar), a photographic series devoted to the survivors of breast cancer.

The work of the fashion photographer David Jay, shows the bodies and the faces of more than 100 young women who have defeated the disease.

The pictures show the scars of women aged between 18 and 35 years who have suffered mastectomy. "For these women, the portrait represents your personal victory", Jay, explains that began the project when his friend Paulina, 29 years old, she was diagnosed and had to undergo a mastectomy.

I asked if she could take a picture of her after the surgery and, hence, the project grew rapidly.

So much so that the page has more than 54000 'I like' on Facebook, in spite of the fact that the social network came to censor some pictures and threatened to ban the page of the project.

A round of applause for these brave. Those who dare to denounce these photographs that show this reality so hard?
