Due to this demonstration, there has been heavy traffic congestion since last evening from Nawaloka Roundabout to Thotalanga.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area, and use alternative routes.
Continuing what Rajapaksas did
The present government is accused of continuing with the Rajapaksa regime’s practice of dismantling houses of low-income families in urban areas without any prior notice or giving them alternatives.
When UDA officials tried to remove a line of houses at Ferguson Road yesterday afternoon, people started the agitation, but the dismantling went ahead.
Meanwhile, megapolis and western development minister Patali Champika Ranawaka is due to make a statement today regarding this matter.
