Dialog to face legal action? Featured

A group of around 100 persons, including VIPs are to seek legal redress against Dialog Axiata and the company's CEO - Dr. Hans Wijesuriya, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.

Dialog is alleged of obstructing alternative media streams of late.

A part of this group is to sue Dialog in civil courts for violating agreements.

Meanwhile, the rest is to seek legal redress against Dialog and the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission before the Supreme Court, citing a violation of Human Rights ensured to citizens by the constitution.

Recently, Dialog also blocked 'Sri Lanka Mirror' and the company has been widely criticised by their customers.

The criticism intensified after Dialog TV recently blocked the Sirasa TV channel, obstructing the channel's popular political talk show - 'Satana'.

Attorney-At-Law Saliya Peiris has also sought cause from Dialog over this block.

In response, Dr. Wijesuriya has expressed his regret over the incident.

Meanwhile, a group of Dialog customers held a protest demonstration in front of the company head office.

However, several bigwigs of the engineering unit of Dialog are said to be distressed over the blocking and are concerned that employees would have to attend lawsuit proceedings due to such obstinate actions of the company head.
