Speaking at a media briefing this morning (27), MP Samaraweera said that the signing of the according pertaining to the fielding of a common candidate would take place in Colombo next Monday.

He added that the accord will be signed on the roadside if a suitable venue couldn't be procured.

Responding to queries whether the opposition has failed to secure the support of government MPs, MP Samaraweera said that the UNP would go ahead with the campaigning activities in rural areas until the crossovers took place.

Noting that it is not possible to win this election just because crossovers took place, MP Samaraweera further added that it was the government and not him who had stated how many would do so.

The MP also elaborated on the the activity of the national government that the opposition would establish after the victory of common candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
