Sri Lanka will meet Afghanistan today (31) in a semi-final of the South Asian championship in India.

The game starts at 6.30 pm Sri Lanka time.

If Sri Lanka makes it, it will be their first final in the tournament for 20 years.

In world rankings, Sri Lanka is placed 194th, after Afghanistan which is in 150th place.

Since 2003, the two teams met seven times, with Sri Lanka winning just one and Afghanistan taking five games.

In this tournament, Sri Lanka won one and lost one.

They scored one goal, while opponents claimed two – due to their counterattack, said Lanka coach Sampath Perera.

Afghan coach Peter Segrt says he has no understanding of the Lankan team comprising young players.
