‘No more bra throwing concerts’ - president

‘No more bra throwing concerts’ - president Featured

President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a warning to local event organizers against musical concerts by foreign singers who destroy the country’s culture and civilization.

He has referred to a girl’s having thrown her bra at Enrique Iglesias during ‘Sex and Love’ tour of Sri Lanka.

The occasion was the awards presentation at Ampara D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya today (27) of Dhamma school competition.

He said steps would be taken not to grant approval for such concerts, at which tickets are priced at up to Rs. 35,000 and boys and girls get drunk and throw their bras at the singer and kiss him.

It is the organizers of such events, not the indecent singer or the girl who threw the bra or the one who kissed him, who should be punished, said the president.

The concert at CR & FC grounds in Colombo on December 20 was organized by www.liveevents.lk, owned by former cricketers Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara.
