Until this morning, the position was held by Peshala Jayarathna, who was elected to the North Central Provincial Council from Polonnaruwa.
However, Peshala has not been informed of this replacement, reports say.
It is said also that Peshala has not attended the UPFA meeting in Polonnaruwa and the Anuradhapura meeting presided by the President, which were held after Maithripala Sirisena quit the government.
