He has made this comment in an interview with 'Mawbima' newspaper.

When the Mawbima journalist questioned whether Gotabaya Rajapaksa will stand in for the next election Madu has said “I do not know that, but he will contest at the general election".

He has further stated that Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero left the government as he was not offered a ministerial portfolio.

However when the same journalist questioned Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero regarding the allegation raised by Madumadawa the Thero has responded saying "please child, we will not talk about Madu. I do not hold any personal grudge against him".

Meanwhile, when Madu was questioned if Gotabaya is entering politics from Colombo or Gampaha he has said “acolyte should not preach in the absence of the monk" and avoided answering.
