Following the footsteps of common candidate Maithripala Sirisena, a group of ministers and MPs are to quit the government on Tuesday, 'reliable sources report'.

At the present four cabinet ministers, one deputy minister and 04 MPs have quit the government while many more cabinet ministers and deputy ministers are deeply criticising the government.

The cabinet ministers who quit the government so far are Champika Ranawaka, Maithripala Sirisena, Rajitha Senaratne and Duminda Dissanayake. In addition to former deputy minister M.K.D.S. Gunewardena, MPs Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera, Rajiv Wijesinhe, Wasantha Senananyake and Perumal Rajadurai also crossed over from the government.
