‘People have lost their faith in govt.’

‘People have lost their faith in govt.’ Featured

Deputy minister Ajith P. Perera says he is losing his faith in the government due to a lack of progress in investigations into corruption and fraud.
Probes not only into the Avant Garde’s floating armoury, but also several other issues cannot be trusted, he has told BBC Sandeshaya.

Perera noted that the issue of property of a former minister from Kalutara resulted in inefficiency of the bribery commission.

There are many others, including the arrest of a racing car having the same no. of the former president’s official Benz, about which no court action has been taken up to now.

However, the racing car is not in court custody, but has been returned, he said, adding that he could not understand as to how a vehicle that had used the no. of an official vehicle of a president could be returned.

The deputy minister said he admitted that the people’s faith in the government has suffered.

Just should be done and it should also be evident that justice is done, he added.
