The statement says legal action has been taken in the high court against 116 suspects under the PTA.

Also, action has been taken against 52 others in the magistrate’s court, and 10 of them have submitted appeals.

The AG’s Department has been instructed to grant bail to the suspects who could be given bail, following consultations with the president, the prime minister and relevant state institutions.

The respective courts will consider bail applications filed on behalf of them.

In the next phase, 32 others are to be released, while the government intends to study the cases against the rest and give them maximum relief, says the statement.
