Accordingly, JHU General Secretary Champika Ranawaka is to make a special statement at 10.35am today after resigning from his government portfolio, reports say.

Yesterday, JHU Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera resigned from all positions he had held and also returned his official vehicle.

In the last few days, Minister Champika had even cleared his papers from the ministry and had planned to leave his official residence as well.

Meanwhile, hospital sources say that Western Provincial Councillor of the JHU Udaya Gammanpila was admitted to Lanka Hospitals yesterday, after being brought in by a wheelchair.

He too, had recently cleared all personal belongings from his Provincial Council ministry office.
