Cover up of IIM student clash report

Cover up of IIM student clash report Featured

An investigation report into a student clash at the Institute of Indigenous Medicine (IIM) at Rajagiriya, which is affiliate to the Colombo University, has allegedly been covered up by its directress Swarna Hapuarachchi.

A two-member committee appointed following a letter sent by the students to the prime minister handed over its report to the directress on August 30.

The clash between two groups of third year students is said to be caused by Disva Denetti, whom a majority of students believes works to serve needs of the administration.

Denetti, who was from Royal College, Colombo had caused a division of students as urban and rural, and is leading a group of around 10 students.

He has close connections with IIM lecturers and has been accused of leaking exam papers.

A case is to be heard tomorrow (03) at the Colombo magistrate’s court over a complaint lodged by Denetti that a group of around 25 students had assaulted him.
