Army laments crime wave in Jaffna Featured

Jaffna security forces commander Maj. Gen. Mahesh Senanayake laments an increasing wave of crime in the area.

It is the duty of the police, not the Army, to curb the crimes, he has told Neth News.

He blamed the increase in crime in Jaffna to a comparatively higher level of freedom being enjoyed by its people.

The top military officer, speaking at a media briefing in Jaffna, also said all the displaed in the peninsula would be resettled by June next year.

Thirty one displaced camps presently house 3,388 people, he added.
