President orders IGP to deal with any troublemakers

President orders IGP to deal with any troublemakers Featured

President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered the IGP not to allow any clash to happen during the joint opposition’s ‘Pada Yatra’ protest march from Kandy to Colombo.

The order follows a meeting he had with several SLFP ministers last night (27) at which they told him about possible attacks by UNP supporters on the protestors.

The bankrupy joint opposition will welcome such a clash, they explained to the president, noting that any untoward incident will adversely affect the image of both the government and the president.

This morning, the president directed the police chief to enforce the law against any troublemakers during the protest march and party membership promotions organized by several parties today.

In a statement, the IGP says he has received information about possible clashes at these events, and requests the public to remain vigilant.
