Political pressure stops another TV series Featured

A popular television series called "Amma" written by educationist and author Upul Shantha Sanasgalla has been ordered to be taken off the air by political pressure, an inside source of the television channel Derana which shows the drama said.

It is said that a top figure in the government had ordered the channel to stop showing the series after Sanasgalla had scripted several advertisements in support of Common Opposition Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.

Earlier the same Derana TV channel was forced to stop its series called "Gini Avi and Gini Kele" that starred UNP Member of Parliament and popular actor Ranjan Ramanayake.

By scrapping both television dramas, Derana is said to be finding it difficult to fill the voids.

"Amma" is directed by Thilina Boralessa with Nilmini Tennekoon and Sarath Kotalawela in the roles of mother and father respectively.
