Sri Lanka’s new Central Bank governor assumes duties Featured

Newly appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Arjuna Mahendran assumed duties in his new post on yesterday (26) at the Governor’s office in Colombo, the bank said in a media release.

His appointment was made by His Excellency the President of Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, on the recommendation of Minister of Finance on 23rd January 2015 as per the provisions made in the Monetary Law Act.

Accordingly, he will also function as the chairman of the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Mahendran has headed Sri Lanka's Board of Investment (BOI) from 2002 to 2004 when Ranil Wickramasinghe was the Prime Minister.
