Reports say that Arjuna Mahendran is one of those tipped to be the next governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

Mahendran served as the chairman of the Board of Investments (BoI) of Sri Lanka when the UNP government led by Ranil Wickremesinghe was in power.

However, reports add that former CEO of the National Development Bank - Ranjith Fernando, who holds a vast expertise on the local economic activities, is highly likely to be Cabral's successor.

Fernando is also backed by his former NDB colleague - Eran Wickramaratne, who himself is tipped to become a deputy minister.

Meanwhile, it is also said that MTV / MBC owner Raja Mahendran is making a strong attempt to ensure that John Keells Holdings Director Indrajit Coomaraswamy is appointed to the post.
