The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) has formally pledged its support for common Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena, its leader Patali Champika Ranawaka declared at a press conference in Pita Kotte.

However, attempts made to contact Ketagoda on this regard were futile.

Meanwhile, DP Western Provincial Councillor Ashoka Dayaratne resigned from the party yesterday (01) after making a special statement during the PC budget debate.

Dayaratne also stated that he will vote in favour of the PC budget and will function independently in the Western Provincial Council hereafter.

He also added that even though Fonseka had military knowledge, he lacked in political knowledge.
