Ranil intervenes : Nilanga remains Chairman

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has intervened to solve the recent spate of confusion and controversy surrounding the sudden appointment of new Chairman to the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

Dr. Chameera Nilanga Samarasinghe earlier said that a letter on his desk had stated that another individual was suddenly appointed to his post.

However, he added that the Prime minister had phoned him around 4.00pm yesterday (06), and informed him to continue his work as the Chairman of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

Accordingly, former DIG Sirisena Herath, who was tipped to be Dr. Samarasinghe's successor had left the building, he further said.
