Speaking, a Director of the CAA - Ms. Chandrika Tillakaratne said that the measure was taken after considering continuous complaints from consumers purchasing electronic goods.

She said that the warranty period of electronic goods would be extended while laws will be strict on the quality of goods.

Noting that a new programme on this regard would be formulated with the technical assistance of relevant companies and institutions, Ms. Tillakaratne said that this would be another measure to further safeguard consumers.
