Following a protest march, 13 representatives, including IUSF convener Lahiru Weerasekara, had a meeting with the state minister yesterday evening (03).
Grero has told them that he could not decide on his own, and a state policy decision was needed, with regard to the private medical college in Malabe.
The student intake to universities will be raised by 10 per cent, and steps are being taken to elevate the higher national accountancy diploma to degree level, he has told them.
Will stop only after winning struggle
After the meeting, IUSF convener Weerasekara said the state minister promised them a solution within two weeks.
A circular can be issued to solve problems, but authorities are evading issues and deceiving us, which they have been doing all the while, he said.
In the future, not only students, but also civil people will be joined in our struggle, said Weerasekara, adding that they will stop only after winning their demands even at the cost of their lives.
At the end of the discussion, one student representative told Grero to give his ministerial position to a child.
