Nude Donald Trump statues amuse crowds

Images from the US, where naked statues of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump have proved to be a hit with passers-by.

Life-size naked statues of Donald Trump suddenly sprang up on Thursday in the US cities of New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco and Cleveland, quickly drawing attention of crowds.

The installations of stern-faced Trump are the project of the INDECLINE activist collective, and were created by an artist from Cleveland.

"It is through these sculptures that we leave behind the physical and metaphorical embodiment of the ghastly soul of one of America's most infamous and reviled politicians," INDECLINE said in a statement.

Many passers-by were clearly amused and delighted, with some daring to kiss the orange-tinted statues...

...while others tried to do their own Donald.

Overall, the project looked like a big hit with ordinary Americans.

But employees of the New York City Parks removed the unauthorised installations. "NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small,'' quipped parks spokesman Sam Biederman.

Donald Trump's campaign has so far made no public comments on the statues.
