Donald Trump officially becomes Republican nominee

Donald Trump has secured the nomination of the Republican party to become the next US president after months of controversial campaigning.

In a Tweet, trump said, "Such a great honor to be the Republican Nominee for President of the United States. I will work hard and never let you down! AMERICA FIRST!"

Earlier, Trump's wife was criticised for plagiarising US First Lady - Michelle Obama after addressing the convention.

Many Americans have opposed Trump's ascension in US politics, lambasting his controversial campaign statements, including calling Mexican immigrants rapists and drug dealers whom he would deport if elected president. He has also called for a ban on Muslims from entering the United States.
