Unfit Malinga wants replacement for him!

Unfit Malinga wants replacement for him! Featured

Former T-20 captain Lasith Malinga says another bowler should take his place in the team as he does not feel 100 per cent fit to play in the T-20 world cup.

Just before departing for India to join the team yesterday (14), he said he would engage in some practice before deciding whether to play in Sri Lanka’s opening game against Afghanistan on March 17.

Malinga said he was finding it difficult to understand as to why he had been chosen for the tournament, after playing just one game in the T-20 Asia Cup after which he suffered a knee injury.

He also criticized the new national selectors for their team selection, noting they only dropped Jeffrey Vandersay, who didn’t play a single match in the Asia Cup, and Niroshan Dikwella, who played only against Pakistan.

The paceman went onto say that his participation in the IPL starting next month too, was in doubt, due to his knee injury.

He said the injury had no cure except a long rest.
