According to information received, the SLBBA has totally avoided making any plans to welcome this athlete who has done Sri Lanka proud.
Although the Sports Ministry had made plans to welcome her to the country through the VIP arrivals wing, due to protests by the SLBBA Secretary Nihal Weeratunge and member Prasanna Pieris, these preparations have not materialised.
As this athlete has been residing in the US for over 10 years, a coordinating Secretary for the Justice Ministry Attorney Dasun Nagashena has requested the Sports Minister’s Private Secretary, Sampath Dissanayake in writing, to clear all legal matters and make necessary arrangements to welcome this athlete in an honourable and fitting manner.
When contacted, the President of the SLBBA Kithsiri Fernando said that he was unaware of Dilrukshi arriving in the country and he had learnt of the issue only upon our inquiry.
His voice cut is below;
This athlete is said to have won five international competitions so far.
She had won the second place in the USA Florida npc Gainesville classic Mac bikini class, First place in the IFBB hurricane bay pro Tampa competition held in Florida, and being selected among the top five competitors, plus winning the second place in the over 30 category and becoming the overall third placed in the competition.
While the family members of Dilrukshi has organised a welcome celebration acknowledging her achievement, certain SLBBA officials are trying to sabotage this welcome ceremony too, claiming that the SL government has banned bikini competitions.
