Old boys clash over cricket coach of St. Aloysius College Featured

St. Aloysius College, Galle is to remove its cricket coach after he had dropped from the team the son of a zonal manager of an oldest bank in Sri Lanka.

Past pupils of the school have become divided over this matter.

Under the coach, St. Aloysius College won the runners-up title in the T-20 school tournament, and the team has three members representing the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team.

There have been allegations minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam too, has got involved in this dispute.

When contacted, he told Sri Lanka Mirror that a final decision has been taken by a committee appointed by the school’s principal on his instructions.

The minister said he had no personal connections with any of the parties involved.

Past pupils allege that members of the committee are friends of the bank manager, whose son has been dropped from the team.

They allege the committee’s report was biased, and want a fresh investigation by independent persons.
