Customs alert over Cricket Aid souvenir mystery

Customs alert over Cricket Aid souvenir mystery Featured

Sri Lanka Customs is probing into a stock of souvenirs sent for Sri Lanka Cricket’s Cricket Aid fundraiser held in London in June 04, 2016.

A stock of souvenirs were sent to London for the event with the excess number returned to the island.

However, the number of leftover souvenirs sent back to Sri Lanka has exceeded the number of souvenirs originally sent from Sri Lanka for the event and this has alerted the Customs.

Cricket Aid - the charity arm of Sri Lanka cricket, was established in 2004, following the devastating Boxing Day Tsunami.

Most recently, it was resurrected with the aim of raising funds for the eradication of the Chronic Kidney Disease pandemic that is rampant in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka.

Cricket-Aid commenced immediate relief operations in the wake of the country’s flood disaster in May 2016.
