Usually when we say goodbye to somebody, we are pretty sure that we are going to see them again, and soon. But many of the people in the photographs below, taken during WW2, had no idea if they were ever going to be reunited with their loved ones again. And sadly, many were not.

These pictures serve to remind us that life is short, so do not wait until Valentine's Day to tell somebody you love them. Tell them today!
