Are official positions banned for transgenders?

Gender activist - Bhoomi Harendran questions how gender and sexuality could affect someone being engaged in a profession.

She was speaking to 'BBC Sandeshaya'.

Earlier, media had cited the Chief prelate of the Asgiri Chapter as to requesting the appointment of another person to the post of Central Province governor.

Reports had further cited the Thera as to saying that it was not suitable to appoint a woman as the CP governor, who has to work closely with the Dalada Maligawa as well as clergy of the Malwatte and Asgiriya chapters.

Meanwhile the new governor of Central Province has expressed her distress towards the criticism leveled against her in social media for the reason that she a transgender.

Speaking on this regard Bhoomi Harendran questions as to why a transgender, female or homosexual individual is not offered equal opportunities as a man.
